Storey County Update on COVID-19 - March 18, 2020

We understand our Storey County community has a lot of questions following Governor Sisolak’s speech and mandate last night relating to COVID-19 and conducting business in this ongoing environment.

Yesterday at the County Commission meeting, we officially declared a state of emergency. We are actively working through how that impacts our ongoing business operations. The additional information provided by the Governor last night was added on top of that.

At this time, we have not made any definitive decisions as to how we are implementing the Governor’s directives on our government operations or in regard to our business community. We have a diverse population of businesses operating in our county from single-owned merchant shops to those at the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center.

We ask that you bear with us as we talk through this extensively today. Please understand it is not our intention to provide contrary direction to the Governor’s directive but we are taking the time to make the right choice for our diverse community and its operations.

We will continue to provide an update through social media and our website as soon as it’s available. If you are not following our Facebook or Twitter, we encourage you to do that now. Additionally, you can sign up through our website to receive alerts as they are posted.

Again, we understand that you are looking for answers sooner rather than later and are working to do that as soon as possible.

In the meantime, continue the practices as provided by the CDC. You can keep up on the latest on COVID-19 by going to our website and clicking the “Coronavirus Updates” link at the top.

Thank you. More to come.
