Civil

In matters of Storey County civil law, it is the responsibility of the District Attorney's office to provide legal representation and advice to all elected and appointed officials of Storey County, as well as to the boards, agencies and commissions that represent or provide service to the County. The District Attorney's office also drafts contracts and legal documents that are used to conduct County business, serves as a risk manager, and approves legal documents provided by other agencies to the County.

Additionally, the District Attorney's office prosecutes civil cases on behalf of the County, in matters involving building or zoning codes, forfeiture, condemnation of property or foreclosure. The District Attorney defends in civil cases brought against the County in matters such as personal injury, property damage, wrongful termination or erroneous land decisions.

Please note: This office does not handle matters regarding child support. All child support matters will be referred to the Washoe County Distict Attorney's office, child support.
