About your Justice of the Peace:
Judge Herrington began her term on January 7, 2013, following the November 2012 Election. Prior to serving as your Justice of the Peace, she worked in the Storey County District Attorney's Office for over 15 years where she served as the county's first paralegal. During her career with the district attorney's office, she established Storey County's first Victim Services Unit. She is the recipient of the 2011 "Bringing Respect and Honor to Victims Award for Outstanding Criminal Justice Unit" from the State of Nevada Alliance for Victims' Rights. She also served on the Criminal Justice Committee and the Education Committee of the Nevada Council for the Prevention of Domestic Violence.
In 2014, the Nevada Supreme Court appointed Judge Herrington to the Judicial Council Access to Justice Committee and the Judicial Council of the State of Nevada Technology Committee as a representative of the Sierra Region. She is also a member of the Nevada Judges of Limited Jurisdiction, the Sierra Judicial Council, the American Judges Association, and the American Judicature Society.
Judge Herrington and her husband chose to raise their family here in Storey County. Their six children now enjoy successful careers throughout the world. Being family-focused, the Herringtons spend most of their spare time visiting children and spoiling grandchildren. They continue their devotion to the community through their long-term involvement with 4-H and are the recipients of the Nevada 2013 4-H Hall of Fame Award.
