IMPORTANT DATES FOR PROPERTY OWNERS

•   Overview of department responsibilities
   

  • The Storey County Assessor is responsible for the valuation and assessment of all property in the county, both real and personal. This includes both exempt and non-exempt properties. Additionally, our office provides vehicle registration services under the Nevada State Department of Motor Vehicles. The following are services provided by our office:
     

  • Property Value and Tax Assessment

    • Locate all property in the County and identify the ownership.

    • Establish a taxable value for all property.

    • List the value of all property on the tax roll.

    •  Assess personal property, business personal property and manufactured homes.

    • Handle all billing of business personal property and manufactured homes placed on the unsecured tax roll.

    • Keep parcel maps on all property in the county current.

    • Apply all legal exemptions.

    • Maintain public records.

    • Conduct fair and efficient assessments.
       

  • Department of Motor Vehicles (Hours of operation Mon.-Fri., 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.)

    • New vehicle registration

    •  Vehicle registration renewals

    • Trailer registration

    • Processing titles—new, out-of-state and title transfers

    • Clearing insurance suspensions and collecting fines
