Tax Roll

The Storey County Assessor’s primary duty is to determine the value of all taxable real and personal property in the county for ad valorem purposes. The term ad valorem derives from the Latin phrase meaning “according to value.” Property ad valorem taxes are the major source of revenues for county services including schools. Nevada statutes limit the rate of the ad valorem property tax to a total of $3.64 for each $100 assessed valuation. Assessment is 35 percent of full cash value. The ad valorem revenue derived from old property in the aggregate is limited to a 6 percent annual growth rate without a vote of the people.

Storey County offers tax assistance programs for some citizens. In the Exemption and Property Tax Rebate Programs section, you will find a description of these programs. Please note, all numbers are based on the 2008-2009 tax year and may change annually.
