As outlined in Nevada District Court Rules (Rule 9), Storey County has designated the third Friday of each month for which law questions and issues shall be heard. During Law and Motion Day, District Court Judges William A. Maddox (Chief Judge) or James Todd Russell comes to Virginia City to hear all criminal, probate and civil matters. Judges Russell and Maddox are the circuit judges for the First Judicial District Court which serves Storey County and Carson City.
Regular Civil, Criminal, Probate and Family courts sit in session on Law and Motion Days the third Friday of each month from 10a.m. to 5p.m., exclusive of legal holidays. Click here to view calendar.
