Under the direction of the Storey County Commisioners and County Manager, the Community Services Director acts as the County's Hearing Officer for Civil Code, Ordinance, and Nuisance Enforcement (not including building or fire). This would also include, but not be limited to, County sign, lighting, and noise ordinance(s), as well as boardwalk maintaince along C Street. Additionally, the Community Services Director works with our Sheriffs Office on ways to improve our Animal Control Division.
Storey County and the Virginia Highlands are favorite spots for wild horses. However, you should never approach a wild horse, as it could cause serious injury to you, the horse, or to County property. If you have an issue with a wild horse, please contact us at the number below or the Sheriff’s Dispatch Center at (775) 847-0950. If you feel human welfare is at risk, please contact 911.
