In her role as Community Relations Coordinator, Cherie Nevin brings a broad range of community relations experience accrued over the course of her career with Storey County. Cherie serves as a liaison with other departments, federal, state, and local jurisdictions and agencies, vendors, contractors, the general public, and others to develop and implement activities, programs, goals, objectives, and policies that meet organization and community service’s needs, special projects and programs, senior citizen services, grant sourcing and administration, and media and public relations. All this is done with a goal to create opportunities for growth and enhancement by developing services and programs that promote citizen involvement and a strong sense of community while striving to increase the social, cultural, and physical well-being of our residents, business owners and visitors.

A fifth generation Nevadan and lifelong resident of Storey County, Cherie attended Storey County schools and earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Nevada, Reno. Prior to becoming Community Services Officer, Cherie served as the Emergency Management Coordinator and prior to that as an Administrative Assistant with the Storey County Fire Protection District.

Cherie serves on the boards of many local community groups which include Community Chest Inc., St. Mary’s Art Center, Liberty Engine Company No. 1 and enjoys volunteering her time in the communities. Cherie also serves on many statewide working groups and is always advocating for rural Nevada.

In her free time, Cherie enjoys spending time with friends and family exploring Nevada, hiking, kayaking, camping, traveling and watching baseball.
