It is the goal of the Justice of the Peace to serve individuals and organizations in Storey County by justly applying the laws and ordinances that govern this jurisdiction.

The Honorable Jack R. McGuffey (Presiding Justice of the Peace)

Judge Jack R. McGuffey grew up in Weed Heights & Yerington, Nevada. Graduating from Yerington High School he went directly to serve in the military where he earned the rank of Specialist 5 in the Armored Calvary and served as a  Tank Commander.  Judge McGuffey then furthered his education at Truckee Meadows Community College focusing on mid management and mechanical engineering related courses before taking advantage of an opportunity for a Mechanical Design Internship mentored by a Swiss Mechanical Engineer.   Prior to Judge McGuffey’s appointment as Justice of the Peace he was employed as Director of Operations for Probing Solution, Inc. of Dayton, Nevada for the last 14 years. Probing Solutions, Inc. manufactures test equipment for the semiconductor industry with a customer base consisting of Intel, Motorola, Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, etc. Products he designed and oversaw have obtained both national and international recognition.   Judge McGuffey was one of two selected by a four panel selection committee consisting of a Justice of the Peace, a District Judge, the County Sheriff, the County Human Recourse Director and confirmed by the County Commissioners on December 7, 2010 for the appointment of Storey County Justice of the Peace.   Judge McGuffey built his house in the Virginia City Highlands in 1998 and is married to Patricia. Their hobbies consist of Quad and mountain bike riding, camping, kayaking, hiking, and fishing.   “Children” consist of three rescue cats and three adopted wild Mustangs.
