Protection Orders

Protection Order applications are available at the Storey County Justice Court, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

The Court Clerks will direct you to the Storey County Victims Advocate Unit where they can assist you in filling out the necessary forms.  Court Clerks are also available to answer procedural questions you may have.

The Judge will review the application and may set the matter for a hearing in order to determine if the statutory requirements have been met.

  • The duration of a Temporary Protection Order is up to 30 days.
  • The duration of an Extended Protection Order is up to one year.

Types of Protection Orders available:

  • Protection Order Against Domestic Violence (NRS 33.018)
  • Protection Order For The Protection Of Children (NRS 33.400)
  • Protection Order Against Stalking, Aggravated Stalking or Harassment (NRS 200.575, NRS 200.571)
  • Protection Order Against Harassment In The Workplace (NRS 33.240) (A filing fee and security fee applies.)
