The County Recorder is charged with recording documents and filing of maps. This office is also responsible for maintaining cross reference indexes to these records. The office provides retrieval of records for public viewing and produces copies and certifications of records. Real Property Transfer Tax is collected on transfers of real property.
Some examples of recorded documents are deeds, deeds of trust, notices of completion, declaration of homesteads, and federal tax liens. Other examples are land maps, military discharge papers, and marriage certificates. All recorded documents are microfilmed for permanent retention.
Recorded documents and maps are Public Records and are available for public viewing at our office. At this time public viewing of the actual document is not available online.
Pursuant to NRS 7.285, the Recorder and Recorder Office’s Personnel are forbidden to practice law, which includes advising what forms are needed, how to fill them out, or giving any other legal advice. Documents to be recorded must be ready to record at the time of submission; the Recorder's Office cannot complete forms.
