Volunteer Opportunities
Reserves
Reserve deputies are trained at the same level as full-time deputies and
assist Storey County Sheriff Office deputies in emergencies, perform crowd
control at large events and are called on for assistance whenever needed.
Occasionally the Sheriff’s Office recruits full-time personnel from its reserve
pool, so if you’re interested in a career in law enforcement, the reserves is
an exceptional place to start!
Requirements
To participate in the reserves program, applicants must be at least 21 years of age, have no criminal record, and be able to meet all Nevada Peace Officer Standards and Training requirements for peace officer certification within one year of hire. For more information, please contact Chief Deputy Fletcher at (775) 847-0959.
Search and Rescue
Storey County has a very brave group of individuals on the Jeep Posse who perform search and rescue for the county. The Jeep Posse responds to lost and missing people, performs mine rescues and provides support to the Storey County Sheriff’s Office. Volunteers comprise the Jeep Posse which recruits members from within the community. For more information, please contact Chief Deputy Fletcher at (775) 847-0959.
