[ARCHIVED] Weekly Construction Notice - Week of March 12, 2018

Construction continues with the installation of new mainline sewer pipe, manholes and connecting home services.  This week 8" mainline pipe installation crews will be working in the areas of E St., I St., Q St., and east Taylor St.

Residents should expect various scopes of work being performed this week. This work includes the following:

  • Project Safety – The main goal of the VC Wastewater Project is to have a safe project. Safety of Ames employees, Ames subcontractors, Storey County and all other companies working on the project is the top priority. To help keep the work area safe, Ames asks that residents remain off closed streets and out of work areas. This not only keeps residents safe, but also keeps employees safe. If you have questions or concerns please call the numbers below or speak to any Ames supervisor away from work areas and equipment. Thank you for your time, patience and consideration!
  • Mainline 8”Sewer Pipe Installation – Starting the week, crews will continue work on E St. and I St. After E St. and I St. work is complete crews will mobilize to Q St. Starting at the intersection of Union and Q crews will work south on Q St. Mainline pipe will be installed in the areas of Q St., Taylor St., O St., N St. and M St. over the next two weeks.
  • I St. and E St. – Archeological discoveries on I St. and E St. were documented and work has resumed.
  • Paving – Due to recent winter weather paving operations have been on hold. As soon as weather allows, paving will resume. Thanks for your patience.
  • Weather – Please be aware that weather and snow could impact scheduled work this week. 

The work being performed should not impact home utility services; if utility interruption is necessary the home owner will be contacted directly.

  • Please be advised for the week of March 19th, we anticipate the following work: B Street; we will be milling the asphalt and start to dig for 8” Sewer Pipe Installation from Union down to Silver Street. We anticipate this to take 1-2 weeks in duration. During this work on B Street, please do not park any cars on B Street. Thank you for your cooperation.
  • During the week of the 19th, we will also be milling the asphalt on D Street and another crew will be installing 8” Sewer Pipe on D Street from 6 Mile to Taylor Street. Please do not park any cars on D Street during this work. We anticipate this work to take 1-2 weeks as well.
