Chaired by the Emergency Management Director, the Storey County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) was established to monitor and inform the public about the use of hazardous materials in Storey County.

Storey County’s LEPC is a multijurisdictional community committee comprised of state agencies, local industry and organizations, health and medical agencies, fire and EMS, law enforcement, education partners, elected officials and concerned citizens to facilitate all hazards emergency preparedness issues including SARA Title III, hazardous materials, and related public safety matters as determined appropriate by LEPC membership.

The committee was organized under the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), also known as Title III of the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA) passed by congress in 1986.

Storey County’s LEPC meets quarterly (January, April, July, October) the second Wednesday at 10:00 am. Unless otherwise specified meetings are held at our McCarran facility, 1705 Peru Drive.
