The Storey County Clerk has the authority to put the court seal on documents requiring authentication. This serves a function similar to notarization of documents.

Notary Requirements

If you are interested in becoming a notary public, you must file your application in the county in which you reside. Application forms can be obtained from the Secretary of State’s Office. Once your application is completed, you can file with the Storey County Clerk’s Office. The process takes a few days to become a notary public.

As outlined in Nevada Revised Statutes, a notary public--during their period of appointment--must:

• Be a citizen of the United States or lawfully admitted for permanent residency in the United States as verified by the Immigration and Naturalization Service
• Be a resident of Nevada
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Possess his/her civil rights
