Storey County’s state of the art communications facility includes two dispatch workstations, complete with:
- Telephone and mapping system
- Radio channels
- Computer aided dispatch (CAD) system
The system was designed for swift call entry, deployment, updates, and communications in conjunction with the phone call for assistance and radio broadcast and transmissions to the appropriate field unit. The CAD system allows Storey County to handle all NCIC/NCJIS functions, a method used to process subjects, articles, and vehicles for warrants, stolen information, or DMV data.
In addition to the CAD system used in Storey County, the Communications Center utilizes mountaintop repeaters to ensure communication is available in all areas of the county--including remote canyons, ravines, and valleys.
