You Call We, Haul Program

Research and experience has shown that fuel reduction around homes increases the probability of it surviving a wildfire. Fuel reduction through vegetation management is the key to creating good defensible space, and it is crucial to reducing the threat and effects of wild land fire.

About the Program
Storey County Fire Protection District continues to offer the You Call, We Haul Program year-round to all Storey County residents. This program is supported by the Storey County Fire Protection District, Storey County Volunteer Fire Department, and Highlands Fire Safe Council.

It gives us the ability to deliver dump trailers to all Storey County residents free of charge. After you have loaded the trailer with your excess vegetative fuel, the Storey County Fire Protection District will pick up the trailer and dispose of the material that was removed. All you have to do is load it up!

In addition, we will perform a courtesy on-site fuel reduction inspection. This may be scheduled at the same time that we deliver your trailer or in advance.

It is not our intent to have your property look barren and without vegetation. There are many things that you can do to reduce hazards. Our staff is here to work with you to provide an attractive and safe environment.

Requesting a Trailer
The Storey County Fire Protection District encourages every property owner to take advantage of this wonderful program. However, if you prefer to do the work yourself, you can deliver the vegetative fuel to the Highlands Fire Station or in Mark Twain.
