Public Works
The Storey County Public Works Road Services division oversees the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of county roadways, bridges, and pathways, all in an effort to make the county's transportation system safe, efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally sound. The plans for the roadways are provided by the Storey County Planning Department.

The Road Services division is responsible for 264 square miles of paved roads throughout Storey County. In addition, Road Services designs, installs, and repairs corrective safety measures such as guardrails, signs, and traffic signals, and works with neighborhoods on traffic safety concerns.

Presumed Public Roads
A presumed public road is a road that qualifies as a public road under the provisions of NRS 405.191 (2) or (3) and an accessory road as defined in NRS 405.201 (1), commonly referred to as R.S. 2477 roads.

Parking
Please observe the following Storey County parking regulations:
  • During the winter months, all vehicles parked on snow removal routes must be moved by 9 p.m. to avoid potential damage from equipment should snow removal be required.
  • Vehicles may once again park in these routes when conditions are clear and beginning at 8 a.m.
  • Parking is not permitted in loading zones or in front of fire hydrants.

Encroachments
When proposed county roads, streets, sidewalks, curbs, gutter, and driveway approaches are involved in construction projects, an encroachment permit must be obtained. Please contact our office or download the encroachment application (PDF).
