The Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center represents the biggest thing to happen on the Comstock since the gold and silver rush. This new industrial center, one of the country’s largest, is already home to major, national companies, and in the Fall of 2004, Wal-Mart selected TRI as the site for its new regional food distribution center. Construction for the Wal-Mart distribution center began in the summer of 2005. The facility employed approximately 500 people when it first opened.
