Have you received a MISDEMEANOR CITATION? You must pay the citation or appear in Court. If there is no court date indicated on your citation, the Court will mail a Notice of Appearance to you. Do not ignore this notice! Failure to pay your citation or appear in court may result in a warrant for your arrest and suspension of your driver's license. Although our judicial clerks are not allowed to discuss the merits of your case with you, they are authorized to approve certain statutory reductions and certain requests made by the public for misdemeanor and civil citations before this Court. You are welcome to call our Court at 775-847-0962. Payment plans are available as well as community service in lieu of fines.
TRANSPORTATION ISSUES? If you have an appearance, but are prohibited from driving or have transportation issues, call our Court at least one day before your scheduled appearance. The clerk will assist you in setting up a remote appearance.

You may also pay in person at our Court office located at 800 South C Street, Virginia City, Nevada 89440. We are open for payments Monday through Fridays, 8:00 a.m., to 4:30 p.m. (Holidays and non-judicial days excluded.)

Justice of the Peace Eileen F. Herrington was elected in November 2012 and began her bench duties on January 7, 2013. She was re-elected and began her second term in January 2019. Prior to beginning her judicial term, Judge Herrington served in the Storey County District Attorney's Office for over 15 years. She established Storey County's first Victim Services Unit which received the 2011 Bringing Respect and Honor to Victims Award for Outstanding Criminal Justice Unit from the Alliance for Victim Rights.

Judge Herrington is a member of the Nevada Judges of Limited Jurisdiction Association and the Sierra Judicial Council. She serves as the Limited Jurisdiction Court Representative of the Sierra Region on the Judicial Council of the State of Nevada.
