Read your civil infraction citation.
The following instructions are important. Please read carefully.
You must either pay the citation or formally submit a request a hearing with the required bond within 90 calendar days of the date the citation was issued. You may not request a hearing after the 90-day deadline. This deadline does not include the date of citation issuance. If the 90th day falls on a Saturday, Sunday, holiday, or nonjudicial day, the "last day" is the next day the court is open. Failure to formally request a hearing or pay the citation by the deadline will result in the Court issuing a Default Judgment against you. You may not appeal a Default Judgment. The Court is authorized to order the suspension of your driver's license
Our judicial clerks are allowed to approve certain statutory reductions and certain requests on civil infractions before this Court. If you would like to speak to a judicial clerk about a reduction, payment plan, or community service in lieu of the fine(s), please call 775-847-0962.
How to Pay a Civil Citation: Within 90 days of the date the citation was issued:
1. On-line at: www.virginiatownshippayments.com
2. By telephone at 1-855-436-6811.
3. In person at 800 South C Street, Virginia City, Nevada 89440. Payments at our office are accepted between 8:00 a.m., and 4:30 p.m. Our office is closed on weekends and holidays.
4. Via US Mail. DO NOT SEND CASH. Check or money order only. Attach a copy of the citation. There will be a place for your signature at the bottom of the ticket indicating that you are choosing not to contest the citation.
How to Request a Hearing to Contest a Civil Citation:
1. Via email at trcivil@storeycounty.org. Your request will not be accepted until a bond is posted or an Application to Waive Civil Infraction Posting of Bond or Deposit is approved. The application is available on our Forms page. If you do not receive a response from our court to your email within 24 hours, you must call our Court to confirm receipt of your email.
2. In person at 800 South C Street, Virginia City, Nevada 89440. Our office hours are 8:00 a.m., to 5:00 p.m., excluding weekends and holidays.
4. Via US Mail. Your request and bond must be received by the Court within 90 days of the citation. (This deadline does not include the date of citation issuance. If the 90th day falls on a Saturday, Sunday, holiday, or nonjudicial day, the "last day" is the next day the court is open.) Attach a copy of the citation. Your request must be accompanied by a check or money order in the full amount of the citation. DO NOT SEND CASH. The Hearing is scheduled:
Once your hearing request has been completed, you will receive a Notice of Civil Infraction Hearing. Please read it carefully. A hearing will not be held earlier than 9 calendar days after the Court provides the Notice of Hearing. Show up for your hearing. Subpoena forms are available on our Forms page.
Remember, although our judicial clerks are not allowed to discuss the merits of your citation with you, they are able to answer many of your questions. They are allowed to approve certain statutory reductions and certain requests on civil infractions before this Court.
